Capella, named after the outstanding Ukrainian composer Borys Lyatoshinskyi, is an artistic team within National House of Music. Today, Capella unites an orchestra, a choir and an early music ensemble, which provide active concert activities both separately and together. The chief conductor is Bogdan Plish. The history of the Capella began in 1964 with the creation of an amateur choir by Viktor Ikonnyk. Lately the choir acquired the status of professional and in 1992 was joined by a newly created orchestra. The team got the title - Ensemble of Classical Music named after Borys Liatoshynsky, known today as Liatoshynskyi Capella. The orchestra of Liatoshynskyi Capella (stage name LIATOSHYNSKYI CAPELLA: ORCHESTRA ) is is known not only due to the long history of the Capella, but also due to the versatility of the repertoire and wide performing possibilities. The orchestra is often invited to premiere performances, studio audio recordings and video programs, musical accompaniment of state events, and cooperation with pop artists. Concert programs with the participation of the orchestra are distinguished by high artistic skill, dynamic sound palette and refined orchestral technique. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the activity of the orchestra, as well as thr whole Capella, has acquired a special meaning and an important mission - to support the spirit and mental health of Ukrainians during war time, to commemorate war victims, as well as to conduct cultural diplomacy, representing Ukraine at famous music venues around the world.
