About the concert
There is music whose sound we recognize before we know its name. We remember it from films, from the radio playing in the car, from records that spun at home during childhood. And when the first bars sound at a concert, we suddenly realize that we remember the entire piece.This evening is built around melodies like these. “Ave Maria,” “The Swan,” “Habanera,” “Barcarolle,” “Csárdás,” the theme from Schindler’s List, Skoryk’s “Melody,” “Song about the Towel” — fifteen pieces that need no introduction. Each is recognizable within the first few seconds. Hearing them live is a different experience from listening to a recording. The voice, violin, and cello sound just a few meters away, and a melody familiar since childhood suddenly feels warmer and more alive. It is one of those wonderful occasions when you can simply come to a classical music concert and enjoy beautiful music in a beautiful setting.
