The NotaBene Chamber Group was founded in 2016, and since 2022, its members have been soloists of the National House of Music. The ensemble includes Maksym Grinchenko (violin), Andrii Pavlov (violin), Ihor Zavhorodnii (viola), Artem Poludennyi (cello), Roman Lopatynskyi (piano), and Yurii Nemyrovskyi (clarinet) — Ukrainian musicians, laureates of prestigious national and international competitions, known both in Ukraine and abroad. The ensemble’s repertoire is notably diverse, spanning a wide range of styles and historical periods. It includes classical works (from Viennese Classicism to early twentieth-century composers) as well as contemporary academic music by Ukrainian and international composers. A defining feature of NotaBene Chamber Group’s repertoire policy is the variety of genres and instrumental combinations. The ensemble performs piano duets with violin, viola, cello, and clarinet, as well as string and piano trios, quartets, quintets, sextets, and chamber vocal works. Throughout its activity, the ensemble has participated in numerous music events in Ukraine and across Europe, including: • International Chamber Music Festival in Plovdiv (Bulgaria), 2016 • 47th International Music Festival "Sofia Music Weeks" (Sofia, Bulgaria), 2016 • IX GOGOLFEST (Kyiv, Ukraine), 2016 • Hvide Sande Masterclass Series (Denmark), 2017 • International Festival "Landesmusikakademie" (Ochsenhausen, Germany), 2017 • International Music Festival "Bouquet Kyiv Stage" (Kyiv, Ukraine), 2018 • Masterclass Schaffhausen (Jeremy Menuhin, Wen-Sinn Yang, Valeriy Sokolov), Switzerland, 2020 • International Festival “Jewish Composers with German Background”, 2021 • XIII International M. K. Čiurlionis Music Festival (Palanga, Lithuania), 2025 The ensemble actively collaborates with leading Ukrainian and international soloists, including Henrik Brendstrup, Ivan Kucher, Denys Severin, Oleksiy Shadrin (cello); José Riber (piano); Sakari Tepponen, Andriy Bielov (violin); Andriy Chop (viola); Inna Galatenko (soprano), and Julian Milkis (clarinet). There is also an established collaboration with composer Ofer Ben-Amots (Israel/USA) within the framework of the “Landesmusikakademie” festival and summer academy in Ochsenhausen, Germany. NotaBene Chamber Group dedicates a significant part of its artistic activity to the deep exploration of contemporary Ukrainian music, carried out through fruitful cooperation with its authors — Ukrainian composers recognized internationally. In 2020, the ensemble launched the project "Nota Bene Chamber Group: Masterpieces of Ukrainian Music from the 1970s–1990s." The project aimed to promote Ukrainian academic music from this period. Works by thirteen renowned Ukrainian composers were recorded: V. Silvestrov, O. Kiva, Ya. Hubanov, V. Poliova, L. Hrabovskyi, O. Shchetynskyi, V. Hodziatskyi, O. Hrinberg, V. Baley, V. Runchak, I. Karabyts, V. Bibik, and Y. Stankovych. Today, NotaBene Chamber Group is an integral part of Ukraine’s artistic landscape. The musicians see their mission as contributing to the development of academic instrumental performance and promoting Ukraine’s integration into the global cultural context. One of the ensemble’s primary goals is to cultivate audience interest in elite-level chamber music and to strengthen the reputation of the Ukrainian classical chamber-instrumental school internationally. During the 2024/2025 concert season, the ensemble is working on an ambitious project: a complete recording of all chamber works by Borys Lyatoshynsky. This unique undertaking aims not only to preserve and popularize the legacy of one of the most prominent Ukrainian composers of the twentieth century, but also to create a high-quality audio documentation that will introduce Lyatoshynsky’s chamber music to a broad international audience. The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Liatoshynsky Foundation and the National House of Music. In 2025–2026, NotaBene Chamber Group attended masterclasses at the NSKA Academy in Utrecht, working with distinguished teachers such as Gerhard Schulz, Mark Danel, Stefan Metz, and Simone Gramaglia.
