About the concert

We have long dreamed of this Baroque cello. Now, it has arrived in Kyiv thanks to the supporters who joined our fundraising campaign last year. Dozens of people across Ukraine and Western Europe contributed to an instrument that was destined to sound for the first time in the future. Tonight, this Baroque cello will resonate in Kyiv for the very first time.

We will hear its voice come alive in Bach’s Prelude for solo cello—its first solitary breath. This is followed by Handel’s duets and arias, where the cello finds its place among other voices in movements filled with tenderness, passion, and Baroque affekts. Vivaldi's sonata allows the instrument to speak at full force. The evening concludes with Vivaldi's Nisi Dominus—a psalm about a home that stands strong only when built together.

The instrument was crafted by Dutch luthier K. Boschman. Performed by Tetiana Hrechanivska as part of the Liatoshynskyi Capella: Early Music Ensemble.
