Performed by a chamber orchestra, works by European classical composers and contemporary masters will be heard, including Luigi Boccherini, Antonín Dvořák, Jules Massenet, William Lloyd Webber, Karl Jenkins, and Max Richter. “Spring at St. Andrew’s” is a journey through time and moods: from the awakening of a fragile, tender spring in the scores of post-minimalist Richter to the luminous lyricism of the serenades by Webber and Dvořák. The program is enriched by Boccherini’s fiery Spanish Fandango and the intimate, heartfelt confession of Massenet’s Élégie. The finale will be the grand and dynamic Concerto Grosso for Strings by Jenkins — a return to the concerto grosso tradition, reimagined in the language of our time.
