No additional contextual layers, stylistic comparisons, or elaborate metaphors—just Bach, and the sound of the organ, the instrument for which he wrote some of his most monumental and celebrated works. The program spans different dimensions of the composer’s organ music: preludes and fugues, chorale preludes, toccatas and fantasias, as well as a transcription of a concerto by Alessandro Marcello. Naturally, the famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565—perhaps the most well-known organ work in the world—will be performed. Its authorship, however, is still debated, as the manuscript survives only in a copy by a student, and the original has never been found.
